05 Nov School District Reduces Theft, Loss, and Misplacement of Valuable Equipment using TME® RFID Asset Management System
Background
One of the most distinguished Charter Schools in the United States was challenged with tracking and maintaining visibility of its most valued equipment such as furniture, computers, AV equipment, and books. Each year they were making purchases for a significant number of unaccounted assets that were either stolen, lost, or misplaced given the existence of archaic, manual tracking and reconciliation processes. Administrators were seeking a system that would reduce theft loss and provide tracking and visibility to the tens of thousands of assets used by the District across multiple schools, locations, and departments including administrative offices and service facilities.
The Solution
Using passive RFID tags to uniquely identify each asset, MASS Group’s TME® RFID Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM) was implemented to provide the District with full visibility to track, manage, and maintain its most valued equipment. With TME®, the District was able to have a full and complete record for each asset, transparency to the asset’s chain of custody, location management down to 5 levels, and robust reporting capabilities to satisfy District reporting requirements. Additionally, TME® EAM’s robust data warehousing capabilities allowed the District to maintain a date/time-stamped audit log of every transaction taken against each asset, visibility to all costs associated with the asset from inception to disposition/retirement, and capability to set-up alerts for asset warranty expirations, replacements, upgrades, etc.
The Results
As a result of automating their asset tracking and management practices, the District realized a 10%+ decrease in unnecessary capital outlays and expenses. They also gained the capability to generate reports for compliance requirements with a simple click.
