The Challenge
Global leader in supplying equipment to the semiconductor, flat panel display, and solar electric industries was looking for a combined, integrated MES and CMMS/EAM solution to improve productivity and throughput of their wafer processing operation as well as reliability and availability to SEMI E10 standards for their manufacturing equipment. Challenged in servicing growing customer demand due to heavy reliance on manual data collection, lack of visibility to data, and loss of historical data.
The Solution
Utilizing MASS Group’s Traceability Made Easy (TME®) software suite, the semiconductor equipment supplier was able to automate and digitize both its production and maintenance processes enabling full life cycle capability across its entire manufacturing operation. Given that TME® MES was constructed to include all the critical functionality specified in both the ISA-95 and MESA Models for MES applications, the EMS was able to streamline, automate, and better manage specific functions of its production process to improve throughput, yield, and product quality. In addition, combined with the robustness of TME®’s reporting capabilities, key stakeholders were able to receive dashboards, production reports, and other critical information on a regular basis. Further, by expanding the solution to include the power of TME®’s CMMS/EAM applications, the EMS was able to track the utilization, production status, and maintenance on all its equipment to ensure maximum uptime, reliability, and utilization.
The Results
Benefits to the EMS included an 8% increase in throughput, ability to meet customer demand which led to additional new customer wins, and 10% improvement on equipment utilization due to a reduction of unplanned downtime and implementation of an automated maintenance procedures.
